My Bike: Bianchi Infinito CV
Years riding: 2
Kms per week: 150-200 kms
This is my second year of doing RSR. However this year due to work commitments are only able to do the final stage from Bunbury to Perth. Doing the one day is still a challenge and I encourage more people who are perhaps a little time poor to give it a go.
There are some amazing women on this ride who are strong, who encourage others, who never give up and are passionate with extreme generosity and big big hearts. So much love for these ladies, it’s tough but you have got this.
I guess what I hope to do on the final leg is support the riders, lift their spirits, provide meaningful conversation and banter – ok it might not be meaningful but we will laugh. I might also offer my wheel for all its worth!
Please donate to this wonderful cause – everyone know someone who is affected by Cancer.
I had spinal surgery in 2017 and had put on so much weight. After the surgery I told my physio I was going to buy a bike - he fully supported me and knowing my competitive streak told me to buy a road bike. I bought a hybrid, rode it three times and purely by accident, over a dinner party the following week bought a second hand Malvern Star Oppy 5 road bike and was addicted. I joined Shannon Miraglia's classes in Kings Park and with her motivation and guidance entered in Bird in the Park Time Trials - and have attended other rides including long rides such as Tour De Gracetown, the 3 Dams to name a few.
One morning at training I had a serious case of bike envy and by that afternoon had purchased my 'Bruce' my beautiful Bianchi, complete with bells and whistles. Not sure how I was going to explain my purchase to my husband - decided to say I was test riding and basically Bruce never went home.
Cycling has changed my life - with Shannon, Brad Hall and Mark Hedges, how could this adventure not be fabulous!
