About Solaris Cancer Care

Cancer touches many lives and almost one third of our population are living a cancer journey at any one time.

Bringing together the best in modern medicine with evidence based support services, Solaris Cancer Care is committed to supporting these vulnerable members of our community both in the metropolitan and regional areas offering services that would otherwise need to be provided by the public health sector (therapies, education, wellness activities, support groups and counselling).

Solaris responds to all adult cancers (the only service provider in WA to do so) and all stages of the cancer journey - diagnosis, treatment, recovery, survivorship and palliative care. We also support families and carers to cope during this difficult time.

The demand for services is particularly high due to its reputation for evidence based support and strong connection to the medical profession and best practice, including eminent haematologist and cancer support services leader, Professor David Joske.

Solaris Cancer Care services also reach regional WA through 300 volunteers across five centres, supported by a small team of employees. Based in WA for the WA community, Solaris creates a vital connection between people, delivers a sense of community and is essential for the wellbeing of many.

About Red Sky Ride

The Red Sky Ride (RSR) is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the supportive care and services delivered by Solaris Cancer Care. Mirroring the cancer journey, the Red Sky cyclists band together, covering more than 650 kilometres over four days, testing their physical and emotional strength.

The cyclists and their volunteer support crew promote the importance of quality of life and integrated healthcare, raise awareness of Solaris support services and lead and inspire others to make a difference in the community.

Now in its 15th year, the Red Sky Ride has raised over $3.75 million dollars. This funding is critical to the growth and sustainability of Solaris Cancer Care.
